Sony’s Kevin heads for UK, Lat Am

CBS comedy Kevin Can Wait

Sitcom Kevin Can Wait has found a big audience on CBS

MIPCOM: Channel 4 in the UK and Turner in Latin America are among the broadcasters to have picked up CBS’s new sitcom Kevin Can Wait from Sony Pictures Television.

C4 has acquired the series, which attracted more than 13 million viewers to its US premiere on CBS and is now in its fourth week, for its youth-skewing channel E4.

Online video platform iQiy has taken the rights in China, while Viacom18’s Comedy Central has licensed the series in India. TVNZ will air it on TVNZ2 in New Zealand.

In Lat Am, Turner has secured the rights across 20 countries, while OSN has the show in the Middle East.

The series, starring Kevin James (The King of Queens), follows a newly retired police officer who is looking forward to spending more time with his family but quickly discovers he faces tougher challenges at home than he did on the streets.

Sony Pictures Television is shopping the series to international buyers at Mipcom, alongside scripted titles including Blacklist: Redemption, Notorious, Timeless and The Halcyon.
