Sony hires ex-Fox exec Glaser

Sony Pictures Television has appointed former Fox exec Jeffrey Glaser to head up current programming at its Studios operation.

Glaser has been named exec VP of US current programming and will replace Kim Rozenfeld, who will leave at the end of the month after six years with the company.

Glaser had been with Fox for almost two decades prior to his exit in March 2015, working predominantly for production subsidiary 20th Century Fox TV on shows such as The X-Files, Bones and Empire.

His arrival follows the promotions of three Sony executives to replace outgoing TV presidents Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, who have joined Apple.

Sony named Jeff Frost, the head of business affairs at its TV division, as president at SPT Studios, which covers the production side of Sony Pictures Entertainment television output and shows such as Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

Meanwhile, Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter, joint heads of drama development and programming, become co-presidents of SPT Studios and will report to Frost.

Earlier this week SPT appointed Andrew Plotkin, former head of development at Syfy, as senior VP of drama development at its studio. He replaces Laura Stein, who was promoted to head up drama development.

Frost, Parnell and Clodfelter revealed the appointment in a memo to staff, describing Glaser as “a talented executive and a terrific addition to our new team.”

The trio also thanked Rozenfeld, whom they said was starting “a new chapter” of his career.
