Solar powers ahead with Bavaria Media pact

MIPTV: German distributor Bavaria Media has teamed up with Finland’s Solar Films to distribute a series of six Scandinavian crime-drama movies.

Bavaria Media takes international distribution rights – excluding Scandinavia, which is covered by Nordisk Film – to Vares (6×90′).

The movies, adapted from the crime novels of Finnish author Reijo Mäki, were filmed and produced last year by Solar with Finnish commercial broadcaster MTV3.

The first, The Kiss of Evil, which is directed by Anders Engström (Irene Huss, Wallander), remains the top movie in Finnish cinemas since its release in January.

The present deal is the first such partnership between Bavaria and Solar Films, and one which both companies said marked the beginning of a long-term collaboration.
