Smithsonian plugs in Aerial spin-offs

Aerial Cities is produced by Tusker Television

US cablenet Smithsonian Channel has ordered a pair of ultra-high-definition spin-offs from its Aerial America series.

Aerial Cities examines urban areas in the US from above, while Aerial Africa takes a bird’s eye view of interesting destinations on the continent. Both will debut on April 8 in 4K.

Aerial Cities is produced by Tusker Television. Tusker’s executive producer is Toby Beach, with David Royle and Charles Poe exec producing for Smithsonian.

Its six episodes reveal insights into life in the day and at nighttime in Las Vegas, Chicago, Seattle, Miami, San Francisco and LA respectively.

Aerial Africa is made by Ukwenza Innovations with series producer Martin Ferreira and executive producer Peter Lamberti. Royle and Poe are also attached as exec producers for Smithsonian.

The programme explores locations such as Cape Town, Johannesburg, Botswana, the Skeleton Coast of Namibia and Zambia.
