Smithsonian looks into Argentina ecosystem

Smithsonian Channel in Latin America has acquired an eight-part series combining documentary and fiction storytelling about Argentina’s ecosystem.

Clorofilia

Starring Brazilian-Argentine actress Ailín Salas, each half-hour episode of Clorofilia provides a new journey through the natural settings of Argentina, revealing the survival strategies of different species and their effect on the planet’s wellbeing.

Clorofilia currently airs in Argentina on pubcaster Canal Encuentro, which produced the series with local outfits Cont.ar and Planta Alta. It is directed by Andrés Sehinkman and written by Jonathan Barg.

The programme will launch across the wider Latin America region on Smithsonian Channel in November and also marks the start of a coproduction partnership between Smithsonian Channel, Canal Encuentro and Cont.ar.

Smithsonian has been rolling out into Latin America over the past two years as part of a global expansion, which also included a launch in the UK and Ireland in February.
