Three-part series Survival in the Skies

US factual cablenet Smithsonian Channel has greenlit a new aviation series from independent UK producer Arrow Media.

Survival in the Skies (3×60’) explores the technological breakthroughs, turning points, triumphs and disasters that led to three key inventions – the space suit, the ejector seat and the parachute.

The show will premiere on Smithsonian in the US in 2016 and will be launched to international buyers at Mipcom next month as part of the TCB Media Rights catalogue.

The show’s executive producer for Arrow Media is Nick Metcalfe, while Tom Brisley is creative director. The series was commissioned by David Royle and Chris Hoelzl at Smithsonian Channel.
