Slam renewed in Turkey and France

Turkish and French broadcasters have renewed gameshow format Slam, created by Paris-based prodco Effervescence, for further seasons.

Turkish broadcaster TRT Okul has commissioned a fourth run of the format, which will bring the total number of episodes produced in the region to 150.

Meanwhile, France 3 has ordered a sixth season of another 250 episodes that will begin airing in September.

The show, distributed internationally by Can’t Stop Media, is stripped in France 3’s access primetime gameshow strand and averages 1.6 million daily viewers.

The channel has also decided to extend Slam’s broadcast during the summer to seven days a week instead of the usual five weekdays. Weekend episodes will feature celebrities instead of regular contestants, who will compete for non-profit organisations.

Effervescence has also been developing Slam’s digital offerings. In addition to the online game, which has attracted 800,000 players, a smartphone and tablet app was recently launched that has already been downloaded 400,000 times.
