SkyD secures new film deal

Sky Deutschland is continuing to strengthen its film slate after securing a new licensing deal for titles including Magic Mike and the fifth installment of the Twilight Saga.

The satcaster has renewed its exclusive pay-TV deal with Tele München Gruppe for current feature films and catalogue titles such as includes The Company You Keep and Astérix & Obélix – God Save Britannia, alongside forthcoming Twilight film Breaking Dawn – Part Two.

Sky will also have rights to the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s novel On the Road. Library titles will include Dirty Dancing, Tomb Raider, Universal Soldier, Total Recall and Scary Movie.

The new titles will air on Sky’s bouquet of film channels, while subscribers will also be able to watch them on demand on Sky Anytime and through mobile and internet-connected devices on Sky Go. The German pay-TV platform recently signed a similar deal with Sony Pictures Television.
