Sky Vision takes Arabia global

Arabia with Levison Wood is set to air on Discovery UK

Arabia with Levison Wood, the TV show following the explorer’s latest adventure, has been acquired by broadcasters in Asia-Pacific, Africa and other territories worldwide.

Discovery Networks in Asia Pacific and BBC Studios in Africa and Australia have picked up the 5×60’ show, which is being made by Wood’s prodco Blackmane Media, with the series co-funded by distributor Sky Vision.

The series has also been sold to free-to-air nets YLE, UR, DR and NRK in the Nordics as well as RTV in Slovenia, HRT in Croatia and TVB in Hong Kong. In Canada, Canal Evasion and Blue Ant Media have the show as does Autentic in Germany.

The Comcast-owned UK distributor has also licensed the series to undisclosed networks in Poland, Israel, New Zealand and Latvia.

The series, which airs on Discovery UK this week, sees the writer and photographer tell the real story of the Middle East through its people and his expedition through what Sky Vision described as “the most perilous region on Earth.”

“Lev is a veteran traveller and his journey through Arabia is his most challenging and engaging series to date,” said Niki Page, Sky Vision’s head of factual and factual entertainment acquisitions.

Sky Vision, which C21 revealed in April will soon be merged into Comcast-owned NBCUniversal’s international distribution division, acquired international rights to the series from Blackmane’s agent, Wolfsong Media.
