Sky to carry MTV music awards in UHD

UK pay TV broadcaster Sky has secured rights to air this Sunday’s MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) 2017 exclusively in ultra-high definition (UHD) from Viacom International Media Networks.

The agreement also includes the UHD VoD rights to the full live show as well as a selection of shorter videos of individual artist performing at the event.

The MTV EMAs 2017 celebrates musical artists from around the world via MTV’s channels, digital media properties and platforms.

The event will be broadcast live from London across MTV’s 60 international TV channels and will also air on Channel 5 in the UK, with a one-hour delay.

The live UHD feed will be made available to Sky Q customers via a trigger in the HD channel feed and availability will be promoted by the UHD listings. The VoD content will then be made available to the Sky Q box and will be promoted in the UHD area.

The show will also be streamed live on the newly launched MTV Play mobile app in the UK.

The MTV EMAs 2017 takes place live at London’s SSE Arena in Wembley on November 12 at 20.00.
