Sky audiences in STV’s broadcast areas will be able to watch current series including Coronation Street and Britain’s Got Talent as well as classic shows from STV’s archives via their Sky Q and Sky+ boxes and mobile devices. STV Player access will become available later in 2019.

In addition, STV’s four regions will launch in HD to create the first fully regionalised PSB service on Sky, to provide Scottish Sky subscribers with regional STV programming including STV News at Six.

The new deal reinforces the relationship between STV and Sky, which has made STV Player available on Sky’s Now TV SVoD service.

“This partnership with STV will bring even more great content to Sky customers across Scotland, as well as enabling us to collaborate and launch the first fully regionalised HD service from a public service broadcaster,” said Stephen van Rooyen, Sky’s CEO for UK and Ireland.

The move comes as STV is looking to expand across its various services. Speaking to C21 recently, Sarah Brown, head of drama at STV Productions, said the production arm had “ambitious plans” for drama including “an increasing number of coproductions with third-party producers.”
