Sky Studios launches unscripted prodco

Sky Studios, the European satcaster’s recently formed studio division, has launched an LA-based non-scripted prodco and appointed an industry veteran as its president.

Jeff Collins

Catalina Content will be led by Jeff Collins, just weeks after he announced his departure from entertainment prodco Collins Avenue, which he co-founded in 2009.

Collins will oversee the new prodco’s creative output and will be responsible for creating character-driven and female-skewing programming, as well as entertainment formats for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.

Catalina Content joins Sky Studios’ non-scripted production portfolio, which includes Jupiter Entertainment (Snapped, ID Murder Mystery), Love Productions (The Great American Baking Show), Znak & Co (Fox’s upcoming Ultimate Tag) and Talos Films.

During his time at Collins Avenue, which recently switched ownership from Kew Media Group to The Content Group, Collins was exec producer on all the company’s titles, including Dance Moms, Fly Girls, Survival of the Richest, American Stuffers, Bridezillas and Billy the Exterminator.

Prior to setting up his own prodco, Collins was VP of Leeza Gibbons Enterprises at Paramount Studios, where he oversaw documentary and specials programming.

Collins said: “I’ve launched a company from the ground up, so I know what an exciting adventure it is. With the backing and support of a global creative giant like Sky Studios, this new chapter will be exponentially more spectacular across the board.”

Further Catalina Content appointments are expected to be announced in the future.
