Sky sells extreme shows

Broadcasters including Australia’s Nine Network, DR in Denmark and RTL in the Netherlands have picked up extreme adventure shows from UK-based distributor Sky Vision.

Walking the Nile

Walking the Nile (4×60’) follows explorer Levison Wood as he embarks on a nine-month trek along the River Nile and has been picked up by Network Nine in Oz, Choice TV in New Zealand, Canada’s Blue Ant Media, RTL in the Netherlands and Servus TV in Austria.

The show, produced by October Films and GroupM Entertainment, generated a 35% increase on the slot average for Channel 4 in the UK, and will also air on Autentic in Germany, DR in Denmark, AMC Networks Hungary, Latvian Television and Greece’s Nerit TV.

Meanwhile, Finland’s YLE is among the networks to have picked up Xtreme Endurance (4×60’), about former Welsh rugby player Richard Parks tackling three of the world’s most arduous endurance events in preparation for a solo walk to the South Pole.

The Zig Zag Productions and GroupM Entertainment show has also been acquired by Blue Ant Media, Choice TV New Zealand, DR Denmark, UR Sweden, Latvian TV and Nerit TV.
