Sky returns to Temple for S2

Mark Strong stars in Temple

UK satcaster Sky has recommissioned original drama Temple for a second season.

Temple tells the story of a respected surgeon, played by Mark Strong, who finds himself entangled in a world of bank robbers and doomsday preppers after he sets up an illicit clinic in the tunnels beneath Temple tube station in London.

The series is produced by Hera Pictures, with Strong and Liza Marshall executive producing. Hera is a UK indie established in 2017 by former Channel 4 drama chief Liza Marshall.

Temple was commissioned by Zai Bennett, Sky’s MD of content, and Cameron Roach, Sky’s director of drama, with Gabriel Silver as the executive producer for Sky.

The second season of Temple is the latest in a string of recent commissions as Sky continues to invest in original content.

Recently, it committed to more than double its investment in original drama, comedy and documentary through its new production arm, Sky Studios.

NBCUniversal Global Distribution will handle the series’ international distribution.

Sky’s current original catalogue includes Catherine The Great, starring Helen Mirren, a second season of Jez Butterworth’s Britannia and S2 of Save Me, starring Lennie James and Suranne Jones.
