Sky orders Walliams family specials

David Walliams’ Cinderella: After Ever After aired last Christmas

UK pay broadcaster Sky has ordered two family-skewing comedy specials from comedian and author David Walliams based on the stories of Jack & The Beanstalk and Hansel & Gretel.

The one-hour After Ever After specials follow last year’s Cinderella: After Ever After special on Sky.

Walliams, Sheridan Smith and Blake Harrison will lead the cast for the latest instalment, Jack & The Beanstalk: After Ever After, which will air at Christmas on Sky1 and NowTV.

Produced by Walliams’ King Bert Productions, it is created and written by The Dawson Brothers and Walliams, who will play the role of the giant in the reimagining of the classic tale.

Walliams said: “I often wondered what happened to Jack after ever after, so I decided to write a sequel because I can’t stop writing books. This is a star-studded festive treat – a comedy sequel to one of the best-loved English fairytales.”

The show sees Walliams return to Sky1 for a fourth consecutive Christmas following Cinderella: After Ever After (2019), The Queen & I (2018) and Ratburger (2017).

Jack & The Beanstalk: After Ever After was commissioned by Zai Bennett, Sky UK’s MD of content, and Jon Mountague, director of comedy at Sky Studios, and executive produced for Sky by Tilusha Ghelani and by Jo Sargent (Malory Towers, Ratburger).

It is directed by David Sant and produced by Adam Browne. International distribution will be handled by NBCUniversal Global Distribution on behalf of Sky Studios.

Hansel & Gretel: After Ever After, will be written by Walliams and Kevin Cecil and directed by Dan Zeff, with further announcements to follow.
