Sky, A+E extend European deal

European satcaster Sky has expanded its partnership with US cable operator A+E Networks.

The UK version of the Next Top Model format

The companies have extended their long-term partnership for an unspecified length of time, which will continue to make A+E programming available through Sky’s operations in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria.

A+E partnered with Sky earlier this year to add fledgling channel Blaze to the satcaster’s line-up in Italy, having launched the network in the UK last year.

The pan-territory deal also includes channel brands History, Lifetime, Crime & Investigation, H2 and A&E. Sky customers are able to access A+E’s brands and content via non-linear offerings including OTT service Now TV in Italy and Sky Go in the UK and Germany.

Original local commissions from A+E, including Ronnie O’Sullivan’s American Hustle and Britain’s Next Top Model, will be available in the UK; series such as Mafia Queens will be available to subscribers in Italy; and German customers will have access to shows such as History Hunters.
