Sinking Ship launches animation unit

Sinking Ship Entertainment in Canada has launched an animation division and recruited the VP of production at 9 Story Media Group’s Brown Bag Films to lead it.

Tanya Green has joined the Toronto-based firm, which specialises in producing hybrid live-action/CGI animated series for families and kids, as head of animated series.

Sinking Ship Entertainment said it planned to “take risks to create stories that educate, entertain and excite kids around the world” with the new division.

The company also houses a VFX and interactive studio, which creates multiplatform digital content.

Green has more than 15 years’ experience in animation production and oversaw, managed and produced hundreds of hours of animated television at Brown Bag.

“Under Tanya’s experienced leadership, this new division will challenge the way animation is done in Canada, creating new looks backed by interesting stories as told by diverse, unique and underrepresented voices,” said JJ Johnson, co-founding partner of Sinking Ship Entertainment.
