Sierra/Engine fires up Simmons format

US production and distribution outfit Sierra/Engine Television has linked up with rock legend Gene Simmons on a new reality format.

Coliseum has been created by Chris Philip, CEO at Sierra/Engine, and Simmons, who rose to fame with rock band Kiss. The show challenges contestants from all musical backgrounds to form bands and create an act to impress Simmons and the audience.

The format is being presented at MipCom next month and was developed by Simmons, Philip and Justin Scroggie and Michel Rodrigue from consultants The Format People. Worldwide sales will be handled by Sierra/Engine.

Simmons has previously worked on AMC docuseries 4th and Loud and starred in A&E reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels. He also fronted two seasons of Rock School for Channel 4 in the UK.
