Sierra, Engine partner on sales venture

Engine Entertainment is linking up with feature film producer-distributor Sierra/Affinity on its new television sales arm.

As C21 reported this month, Sierra/Affinity is moving into TV distribution and has added Georgeville Television’s 10-part NBC series Crossbones to its fledgling slate.

Now the firm has announced it will partner with Engine on the venture, which will be known as Sierra/Engine Television.

Engine CEO and founder Chris Phillip will head the new company and its slate will debut at Mipcom at the beginning of October. Other programmes already signed up include ABC’s 13-parter Hunters, aka Epidemic.

Sierra/Afinity CEO Nick Meyer was previously president of Lionsgate International where he oversaw Mad Men and Weeds.

LA-based Engine Entertainment’s year-long distribution deal with Ben Silverman’s prodco Electus came to an end in January when Electus decided to launch its own distribution arm. Engine did maintain a first-look agreement with Electus, however, with pair now co-distributing Engine product.
