Showtime to revisit Nurse Jackie

US premium cablenet Showtime is booking another appointment with Nurse Jackie, after finding a new showrunner for the medical comedy drama.

The show will return for a fifth season with Dexter’s former exec producer Clyde Phillips leading the Lionsgate Television production team. He replaces co-creators Linda Wallem and Liz Brixius, who left the production earlier this year. Season five is due to begin production later this year.

Edie Falco will resume her role as the eponymous emergency room nurse in a New York City hospital. Season four began on Showtime in April.

Nurse Jackie has travelled around the world, airing on Sky Atlantic in the UK, Eleven in Australia, SVT in Sweden and Germany pay-TV network TNT Serie.
