Showtime orders Affleck, Damon drama

City on a Hill is based on an idea from actor and director Ben Affleck

US cablenet Showtime has commissioned a 12-episode drama from Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, starring Kevin Bacon.

City on a Hill is created by Chuck MacLean, who wrote the pilot, and is based on an original idea by Affleck.

MacLean and Affleck both serve as executive producers alongside Damon, Jennifer Todd for Pearl Street Films, James Mangoldwill and Michael Cuesta.

Bacon will serve as co-exec producer as well as playing the role of FBI agent Jackie Rohr.

City on a Hill is a fictional account of The Boston Miracle, a police initiative to reduce gun- and gang-related crime and racism in the city in the 1990s, and will debut in 2019.
