Showcase acquires Amazon’s Transparent

Amazon’s award-winning original Transparent

Corus Entertainment-owned Showcase in Canada has acquired Amazon Studios drama Transparent, including its forthcoming fourth season.

Showcase will air the first three seasons of the show between July 21 and September 22 following the deal with Amazon Studios.

The fourth season will launch in Canada on an-as-yet unannounced date this year once it premieres to Amazon Prime subscribers.

Created by Jill Soloway, Transparent revolves around a dysfunctional family whose patriarch, played by Jeffrey Tambor, is transitioning to become a woman.

Amazon picked up the show for a fourth season last year. Other international broadcasters to have aired it include Nine Network in Australia, while SundanceTV in the US picked up the show’s first two seasons earlier this month.
