Shine hires fact ent chief

News Corp-owned Shine TV has appointed an exec from UK indie Maverick Television as its new head of factual entertainment.

Steph Harris worked on Channel 4 hit Embarrassing Bodies while at All3Media’s Maverick and will now work on new formats for Shine, as well as its existing factual entertainment slate.

Shine already produces History Cold Case and Wonder Stuff for BBC2 in the UK and The Biggest Loser for ITV.

Natalie Humphries left her position as Shine’s head of specialist factual to join the BBC in 2011, but Harris’ head of factual entertainment position is newly created reporting to joint MD Karen Smith.

Prior to joining Maverick in 2007 she was a creative director at Radar Television and factual entertainment editor at TalkbackThames.
