Shine brings BBC’s Shaw on board

Shine TV in the UK has appointed BBC executive Tanya Shaw as a creative director.

Shaw will start the job later this spring with a brief to grow the prodco’s slate of popular factual programming including factual entertainment formats, features and documentaries.

She is currently commissioning editor for factual features and formats at the BBC – a role she took up in 2012. Her commissions so far include Rick Stein’s India, Mary Berry Cooks, Ben and James versus The Arabian Desert and The Incredible Spice Men.

In the new role at Shine, Shaw will report to MD Kelly Webb-Lamb who held the position prior to her promotion in September.

Prior to the BBC, Shaw was commissioning editor for specialist factual at Channel 4 from 2008 to 2012, commissioning Four Rooms and The Food Hospital among other series. She has also previously had a stint as creative director at Silver River.

Shine TV currently produces Ashley Banjo’s Big Town Dance for satcaster Sky and recently returned Britain’s Best Bakery to commercial terrestrial channel ITV.

Recent commissions include the Island of Lost Blokes for C4, Auf Wiedershen My Pet for ITV and popular returning series include series six of Channel 5’s Eddie Stobart: Trucks, Trains and Planes.
