Shine appoints tech chief

News Corp-owned Shine Group has appointed a chief technology officer to oversee online, mobile and other multimedia ventures across the group.

Stuart Waite has taken up the newly created position, having most recently worked as a digital consultant for Shine Australia and Foxtel.

In 2000, Waite launched Tamblin, a TV consultancy that created content publishing and management software i-ZoneTV, which was adopted by all major UK broadcasters. The company was bought by telecommunications firm Alcatel-Lucent in 2007 and Waite subsequently became the head of interactive media for that company for three years.

He will now report into Shine Group president Alex Mahon and is charged with implementing best digital practice across Shine’s companies and overseeing product launches and new partnerships.

He will work closely with Shine 360 and Shine Digital, which recently acquired online gaming company Bossa Studios and previously produced the MasterChef Academy app for iPhone.
