Sherlock’s Moffat, Gatiss take on Dracula

Sherlock creative duo Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are reuniting for a BBC miniseries based on Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel Dracula.

The pair are set to begin work on the show, which is in its early stages and has not yet been greenlit by the BBC, according to reports.

It comes after Moffat and Gatiss worked together on 13 episodes of Sherlock, which went on to become a global success for distributor BBC Worldwide.

It is not yet known whether the commercial arm of the UK pubcaster is on board the duo’s latest collaboration, which comes from Sherlock producer Hartswood Films.

The latter’s Sue Vertue will produce the drama, which is expected to air in 2019.

Dracula was published in 1897 and has spawned numerous screen versions, including the 1958 film starring Christopher Lee and the NBC/Sky copro starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, which ran for one season in 2013/14.
