The move will see Munich-based SevenOne build on its burgeoning operation in Asia, where it has already secured deals for formats including entertainment show Mein Mann Kann (My Man Can) and factual magazine Galileo.

Its presence in Hong Kong will also open routes into Australia as the distributor targets buyers for its increasing volume of English-language content.

SevenOne MD Jens Richter said: “Already today, more than 50% of all the world’s TV households are located in Asia. This market offers tremendous long-term growth potential for us.”

SevenOne, the distribution arm of ProSiebenSat.1’s Red Arrow Entertainment Group, previously sold Mein Mann Kann to Jiang Su Satellite in China and Galileo to China’s free-TV channel Shanghai Docu TV.

The company this week sold German crime series The Last Cop, produced by ITV Studios Germany, to French DTT channel Direct 8.

The distributor has also sold Steven Van Zandt’s dramedy Lilyhammer, which is produced by Norwegian prodco Rubicon, to UK diginet BBC4 after it became Netflix’s first original series. Netflix is also onboard as a coproducer for season two.
