Sesame, Nick go Upside Down

New York’s Sesame Workshop, Nickelodeon Australia and local prodco Blink Films are coproducing a new preschool series, The Upside Down Show, featuring Aussie comedy act, The Umbilical Brothers.

Being shot in Sydney, the audience participation show follows the comic duo, David Collins and Shane Dundas, as they explore the world, even the viewers’ front rooms. The brothers are joined by, Stretch, a puppet designed by Paul Andrejco (Bear in the Big Blue House).

“David and Shane are amazingly talented performers who have wowed adult audiences around the world. Their hilarious physical comedy, choreographed with sound effects they make themselves, is a natural to adapt for preschoolers,” said Liz Nealon, Sesame Workshop’s svp of creative. “Their imaginations are limitless, and we think little kids are going to love to play along.”

The Upside Down Show was co-created by The Umbilical Brothers and veteran Sesame Street writer, Belinda Ward. The exec producer is Michael Bourchier of Blink. The pilot will be available for screening by international buyers and coproducers at MipTV at Cannes in April.
