Seriously.TV adds Uber comedy

Seriously.TV, the millennial-focused VoD network from Verizon Hearst Media Partners, has commissioned its first scripted series.

Drive Share (10×30′), created by and starring Rob Huebel (Childrens Hospital) and Paul Scheer (The League), will begin production in LA in July with US-based prodco Insurrection Media.

The scripted satire explores the cultural phenomenon of ‘Uberification’ – named after the surge in popularity of ride-sharing services like Uber – and follows drivers while they shuttle fascinating people around town as part of a new shared economy.

The series will premiere on Verizon Hearst Media Partners’ digital video channel Seriously.TV, which is available on platforms such as AOL and Verizon’s mobile app go90, in the final quarter of 2016.

The episodes will then be distributed internationally by Insurrection Media, which targets scripted shows at over-the-top video platforms as well as broadcast and cable networks.

“Everyone, particularly millennials, can relate to having experienced odd, comedic situations while using a peer-to-peer ride-sharing service,” said Justin Killion, head of premium programming and development at Seriously.TV.
