Ryan Seacrest links with ABC for scripted

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has signed a multi-year overall deal with the studio arm of US network ABC to develop scripted projects.

The deal sees ABC cement its relationship with Seacrest after tapping him to front its forthcoming version of American Idol, which the network is rebooting just a year after its 15-year run on Fox came to an end.

The scripted arm of Ryan Seacrest Productions (RSP) will develop projects for broadcast, cable, premium and on-demand services with ABC Studios following the deal.

It comes after LA-based RSP agreed a two-year overall deal with CBS TV focusing on developing scripted content in 2014.

RSP previously worked with ABC Studios on the comedy Mixology and currently produces NBC drama Shades of Blue, starring Jennifer Lopez.
