Kayo Agawa begins to work as a probation officer also known as an unpaid national civil servant who supports the rehabilitation of people who have committed crimes in the past.
Midori, her first client, conducted violense at work, and is sentenced to two years in prison for assault and extortion. Jiro, another client, was sentenced to six years in prison for murdering his elder brother. Tamiko, her third client, has been given a suspended sentence for violating the drug law.
Kayo exerts herself, sometimes in anger and other times in sorrow, to help these three vastly different “ex-cons”. What awaits Kayo, as she earnestly tries to deal with reality, which doesn’t quite turn out the way she expects.
