Based on the graphic novel from AfterShock Media, You Are Obsolete deep dives into controversial issues of eco-rage, apathy, generational conflict and the polarization of society through a taught horror thriller plotline.

In a remote Swedish fishing village, Martina, 16-year-old CEO of EirTech, an incubator run entirely by children, is working on a top-secret tech. Rumors swirl around Silicone Valley that EirTech is developing the “next big thing”, and 29-year-old Lyla Wilton, now washed up but once a child tech prodigy herself, has been hired by an anonymous corporation with deep pockets to steal it.

If she can gain Martina’s trust, Lyla can hand over the secret tech and get her own life back on track. But as soon as she steps off the coastal boat in Holmfors, she realizes she’s signed up for more than she bargained for. The town is completely isolated from the rest of the world, posters of a missing girl, Carla Hamel, cover every old-school light post, and she quickly learns that the people of Holmfors despise EirTech, who they blame for the dessimation of their traditional fishing economy.

As Lyla works to uncover the secrets of what Martina and EirTech are building, she finds herself at the centre of a generational conflict quickly growing violent, a mission to stop global warming - by any means necessary, and the investigation of what happened to Carla Hamel. As she works to uncover what is really going on in Holmfors, Lyla comes to realize that the stakes – and Martina’s plans – extend far beyond the village.
