Queensland is the film-friendly, production paradise of Australia, known for its experienced crews, ideal climate, stunning and diverse locations, attractive financial incentives, studios and post-production/visual effects facilities.

In addition to investing in Queensland-made productions and local talent development, Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy offers a selection of incentives and grants for interstate and international producers, for projects with a minimum A$3.5 million Queensland Production Expenditure (QPE).

The state is home to two studio complexes: Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast, and Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane. Village Roadshow Studios boasts the largest sound stage in the Southern Hemisphere measuring 40,000 square feet (3,716 square metres) and three purpose-built water tanks, including the largest in Australia. Screen Queensland Studios is the country’s newest and third-largest facility, offering a total lettable area of 173,000 square feet (16,000 square metres). Both studios are in close proximity to international airports, as well as a diverse selection of accessible locations.

Screen Queensland’s location scouting assistance can help producers find the perfect location. Myriad location options are available state-wide, including some of Australia’s most enviable white beaches, tropical rainforests, deserts, swamps, lush green meadows, dry grasslands, sprawling cityscapes, sleepy towns and historical architecture.

In addition, Queensland has a network of affiliated film-friendly councils that support visiting productions, cutting red tape and streamlining approval processes for filming, as well as connecting productions with on-the-ground businesses and service providers.
