The Mediator introduces Andrey Pavlov, a Machiavellian professional negotiator trained by the Russian government to bring high pressure, threatening situations to a successful conclusion, through the power of persuasion.

An arch-manipulator, Pavlov’s skill lies in forensically observing behaviour and through psychological gymnastics, using his insight to gain advantage and win. His extreme razor-sharp perception peels away peoples lies but constantly changing his character to suit the task in hand leaves Pavlov uncertain of himself and his own truth. This combined with his tragic history and deep insecurity means his personal life is a car-crash with a string of disastrous relationships with women, but also with his family. Despite his talents of perception, his lack of love and respect for himself leaves him unable to have a relationship, he will not just hurt but try to destroy anyone who comes too close.

As a private contractor Pavlov’s is just as likely to deal with showbiz and big corporates, as he is to deal with criminal or terrorist threats. Wherever there’s an impasse, Pavlov can resolve it, for a fee

Series 1 sees Pavlov deal with three separate but eventually neatly interwoven female-led storylines, with each female protagonist playing different but important roles in his life. Cases address issues such as the heartbreaking modern phenomenon of teenage suicide and social media, scientific breakthroughs, corporate takeovers, family relationships and of course, money.
