On 29th July 1981 a record 750 million people in 74 countries were glued to their TV as Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles exchanged vows at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Lonodn. But the video technology of the time could not capture the intimacy of the moment. British Movietone were the only company to shoot the ceremony on 35mm film, and now, having been beautifully restored, this new version of the wedding shows the big day more clearly than it was ever thought possible.

To mark the 40th anniversary, archive specialists Touchdown Films, use their unique, unprecedented and unlimited access to this beautifully restored original film to produce a feature documentary special of the big day including exclusive, unheard stories told by those who were there, as we celebrate history as you’ve never seen it before.
