Set during the summer of 1953, Churchill’s Secret tells the story of a part of Winston Churchill’s great life of which very few are aware.

Prime Minister for the second time and in his late 70’s, Churchill suffers a life-threatening stroke, which his inner circle conspired to hide from the public. The film charts the course of Winston’s remarkable recovery and investigates the strain that his great public service wrought upon his private life.

Told from the point of view of his family, his doctor, the men he championed and, most touchingly, his young nurse, Churchill's Secret follows Winston’s extraordinary battle to recover, casting an honest light on the tensions within his brilliant and dysfunctional family.

Written by Stewart Harcourt, directed by Charles Sturridge, produced by Timothy Bricknell for Executive Producers David Aukin and Hal Vogel of Daybreak Pictures. The drama has an all star cast including Michael Gambon as Winston Churchill, Lindsay Duncan as Clementine Churchill, Romola Garai as Millie Appleyard and Matthew Macfayden as Randolph Churchill.
