Isolated and remote, around 300 horses live on the edge of the world. It is a hot desert that they must cross in the search for water and patches of grass. In Namibia’s abandoned ghost towns they find protection from the scorching heat - scenes like in old Wild West films, with abandoned huts filled with desert sand. These animals, which do not belong there at all, have developed extreme survival strategies: they lick one another to pro-vide themselves with salt, and in acute cases they even recycle their own dung and feed on it to extract the last nutrients. The film follows a young stallion as it joins a group of adolescent horses. Does he have the strength to one day become a leader in the bleak world of the fascinating Namib Desert?
