Session Information

This Hot Properties strand at Content Nordics On Demand shines a light on upcoming dramas from the region that are expected to have an impact on the international business over the next 18 months. The teams developing the projects discuss how they are being created, developed, packaged and sold.

This session features: Black Sands, A Strange Summer and Furia

Black Sands
From Iceland’s creative power house producer Glassriver and award winning Director, Baldvin Z (Let Me Fall, Life in a Fish Bowl, Jitters), Black Sands follows the story of Anita – played by Aldis Amah Hamilton (Valhalla Murders, Vultures) - a young female detective who is forced to leave Reykjavik having burnt all her bridges within in the metropolitan police. The only post available is in her childhood village, an ugly oasis in the middle of an endless desert of black sand. Her first case sends her on a dark journey into the past, unravelling a serial killer who has been operating for years, disguising his murders as accidents. Anita realises that the killer could be a lot closer to her than she thought…
Speakers: Aldís Amah Hamilton, Baldvin Z and Hörður Rúnarsson

A Strange Summer
Two young women, best friends since childhood, spend their last summer together working as gardeners. At night, they sneak into other people’s houses to see behind the facades. A Strange Summer is a midform thriller about toxic friendships and the hopes and fears on the verge of adulthood.
Speakers: Riikka Takila, Lauri-Matti Parppei and Ilona Tolmunen

Furia
Furia is a character-driven thriller with a dark, twist-laden plot, set against the backdrop of two of Europe's most distinguished capital cities, Oslo and Berlin, as well as rural western Norway. An edge-of-your-seat mix of undercover thriller and prescient political drama, the story centres on Ragna, a covert operative who has penetrated a far-right extremist terror cell, hell-bent on carrying out an atrocity the likes of which Europe has never seen before. Elsewhere, former special ops officer Asgeir is living the quiet life in western Norway after escaping from the Russian underworld and assuming a new identity. When their two worlds collide, Ragna and Asgeir face a race against the clock to prevent the unthinkable happening on German soil.
Speakers: Gjermund Stenberg Eriksen, Magnus Martens and Håkon Briseid
