HOT PROPERTIES: International Drama

Content London On Demand Session

Watch the session

Session information

This Hot Properties strand at Content London On Demand shines a light on two upcoming dramas expected to have an impact on the international business over the next 18 months. We hear from those responsible for developing them to find out more about how they are being created, developed, packaged and sold.
This session features: Tokyo Underworld and Eden

Tokyo Underworld

Tokyo Underworld is the totally insane but absolutely true story of NICK ZAPPETTI, a fast talking Italian American supply sergeant from the Bronx who relocated to Japan in the aftermath of Hiroshima to become the undisputed king of the black market. Not only did he open the first pizzeria in Japan, Zappetti, along with a gang of criminals both American and Japanese, went on to become a multimillionaire diamond thief and professional wrestling promoter.

On a larger scale, Tokyo Underworld is the story of how the most bitter of enemies (Japan and the U.S.) ultimately became the unlikeliest of allies, and in so doing literally changed the course of world history. But on a human level, it’s about ambition, greed, and the need to create a home and family, wherever in the world that may be.

Speakers: Terence Winter, Sherry Marsh and Chris Albrecht

Eden

From the creators of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and Skins with all3media International, commissioned by Stan Australia and Spectrum USA, this eight-part drama series is currently in production.

A brand new drama which lays bare the dark and secret lives of a raft of characters in a place that looks very much like paradise. Inspired by the iconic beauty of the town of Byron Bay, the series is currently shooting in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales with major production investment from Screen Australia.

We trace the origin of the show with development partners from short to full commission.

Speakers: Deb Cox, Bryan Elsley, Vanessa Gazy, Fiona Eager, Louise Pederson, Nick Forward and Katherine Pope
