In this Case Study session we hear from the creative team behind the award winning comedy series Staged about how the show was created, produced, packaged and sold around the world. Starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen and an exceptional line-up of guest stars, BBC One's Staged features the cast of a play who are furloughed when their upcoming production is bought to a halt by the pandemic. Series one follows the cast as they try their best to keep their rehearsals on track in lockdown. In Series two we see the pair attempt to navigate their ‘new normal’ at home with their exasperated families whilst simultaneously trying to tackle the world of ‘virtual Hollywood’ and their ever more fragile egos. Absurd and humorous in equal measure, Staged takes on the challenges of creating a drama in lockdown. We discuss what made this comedy series so successful worldwide, and explore if this is a new production model that has legs for a post pandemic world
