TALKING SHOP: Tom Shankland, director of primetime BBC/Starz drama The Missing, discusses the story behind the mystery thriller as well as the changing role of the television director.
Shankland, whose credits also include four episodes of BBC historical crime drama Ripper Street, was among the speakers at C21’s International Drama Summit in London last month.
The Missing, written by brothers Harry and Jack Williams, explores the actions of a father whose child is abducted. It is produced by Charlie Pattinson’s New Pictures and All3Media’s Company Pictures, in association with the Williams’ UK prodco Two Brothers Pictures and Colin Callenders’ Playground Entertainment. It is airing simultaneously on BBC1 and Starz in the US.
