TALKING SHOP: Nick Thorogood, senior VP of content and marketing EMEA at Scripps Networks International, talks C21 through his programming strategy for the next 12 months.

Thorogood also discusses how he’s balancing US and local titles on the Food Network, Travel Channel and Fine Living schedules and explains why he thinks there isn’t a creative crisis in the unscripted sector.

“Over the next 12 months, what I really want to do is develop the schedules over all three channels to ensure that we know where the programmes sit, which programmes belong to each brand – but also schedule them in a complementary way,” says Thorogood.

“It’s hard at the moment because there have been some factual successes that have been quite formattable and therefore they have been turned into longer running series. Of course that takes away an opportunity to try new things.”
