Genres: Drama

People: Ben Silverman, Dan Cohen, Erik Barmack, Jeffrey Schlesinger, Keith LeGoy, Mark Montefiore, Melissa Aouate, Rachel Kaplan, Wayne Garvie

With Disney acquiring 21st Century Fox and AT&T establishing WarnerMedia, the US studios system is being recalibrated as Netflix, Amazon, Apple and others revolutionise content distribution. As direct-to-consumer services multiply, so the availability of programming to overseas buyers is narrowing, but audiences around the world are at the same time becoming less receptive to traditional stateside fare. Sellers are having to become more flexible and networks more open to embracing shows with greater international appeal. Discussing these issues and others in this C21TV special are: Sony Pictures Television’s president of international production Wayne Garvie; Paramount Pictures’ president of worldwide home entertainment and television distribution Dan Cohen; Propagate’s chairman and co-CEO Ben Silverman; Keshet Studios’ president of scripted Rachel Kaplan; Sony Pictures Entertainment’s president of worldwide distribution Keith Le Goy; New Metric Media’s president Mark Montefiore; Fabrik Entertainment’s president Melissa Aouate; Warner Bros Worldwide Television Distribution’s president Jeffrey Schlesinger; and Netflix’s former head of global originals Erik Barmack.
