Katharina Pietzsch, VP of content sales at BBC Studios Kids & Family, outlines the new division’s content strategy, its plan to reach older kids and its first Mipcom slate, as well as the impact of AI.
What was the strategy behind your appointment in June?
Following the creation of the new Kids & Family division in April last year, Cecilia [Persson, MD of BBC Studios Kids & Family] wanted an in-house expert who could lead the sales team and create a defined sales strategy for the Kids & Family business that supports its ambitious growth plans. I was hired to work closely with the content and production teams and manage priority accounts in order to enhance sales revenue and profit targets across coproductions, commissions and tape sales activity globally.
