A real thriller directed by Reinhold Messner: Together with the Tyrolean Toni Egger, the legendary Italian climber Cesare Maestri is said to have achieved the impossible in January 1959 – the first ascent of the Cerro Torre. On the descent Egger had a fatal accident. Since Maestri could not prove that the two had really reached the summit, the heroic deed was more and more in doubt. Messner’s directorial work is an impressive documentary that captivates viewers like a thriller.
