Deep and real history as well as stunning locations split among Lisbon, Genoa and Rio de Janeiro comprise the set of this gritty mystery. Seductive filming of Catholic architecture, the insides of elegant and impressive libraries and rainy evening cobblestone… Like the far west end of Europe and its oldest colonial traditions, CODEX 632 is a well-produced mashup of the familiar and the exotic. Based on the international bestseller by José Rodrigues dos Santos.

Thomás Noronha is an excellent cryptologist and linguist at the University of Lisbon, respected and admired for his high level of competency. Far from being a bookish introvert, he is already accustomed to academic conflict, some level of political intrigue and juggling a complicated life. But he wasn’t prepared to step into the twisted, centuries-old murder mystery surrounding Christopher Columbus’ supposedly true Portuguese roots at the center of a newly accepted job offer. With this step, comes a level of risk he could never have expected…

Noronha’s life is already as messy as it gets – a failed marriage, a sick child, revolutionary campus politics, love affairs. Still, he takes-on his late mentor’s former charge to trace and backlight Columbus’ beginnings, rights by treaties and sailing routes via encrypted and perilous clues winding through time since before the signing of the Magna Carta. Entire histories and nationalities, as well as massive financial and political dealings fuel the dangerous fire. Amid his own tumultuous life events, Professor Noronha hesitantly sticks to the case but doggedly stays on the trail. The international organization soliciting his talents is anything but helpful.

They want answers but obviously want to keep and protect their own interests, leaving Noronha open to increasing danger. It seems the cabal wants Thomás to become their chess piece. The foundation and various of their associates follow Thomás, pressure him, set traps and act more like the mafia than patrons. Did they kill Thomás’ mentor before him? Is he next on the list once they have what they want?
