2x 90min
While the Germany of publishing icon Aenne Burda is in ruin at the end of the 1940s, the subsequent economic miracle puts the country quickly back on track to prosperity. Aenne dreams of her own project to bring feminine elegance back to the fore after the ravages of war. Her idea is a magazine with fashion patterns, style trends and textile tips to sew practical, tasteful garments yourself. The catch is it’s still quite a man’s world; her husband, successful publisher Franz Burda, would hear nothing of it. Aenne overcomes and utilizes the ugly discovery of a cliché affair with his secretary to emancipate herself decades before self-determination is even a whisper among progressive society.
