Portrait Artist Of The Year is a visual feast, bringing together 72 accomplished artists to prove their skill at portraiture. At each heat, three celebrity sitters sit for them before impressive backdrops that pay tribute to the lives and working practice of a range of famous artists. Contestants have just four hours to create their portraits in a bid to make it through each stage of the competition and claim a life-changing prize – a £10,000 commission to paint famed musician Nile Rodgers for the Royal Albert Hall.
