River deltas are impressive landscapes in a constant state of flux with unique biodiversity. Often they are the most fertile area of a region. Many animals as well as civilizations, which have aligned their way of life with the rhythm of nature and have greatly modified some of the deltas, profit tremendously from the fertility. Each of the five films features a different continent and shows the fascinating diversity of the deltas on our planet, from the artic to the tropics, on the border between land and sea. Each film documents the flora and fauna in a river delta and discusses the role of mankind in the preservation of nature. River deltas are sensitive ecosystems. Some have already been and will be irreversibly changed due to the impact of humankind. Nowadays, researchers and scientists are helping to preserve the natural environment of the deltas and to promote sustainability so that the fragile symbiotic relationship between man and nature remains unbroken in the future.
