The classic game of tag has been fantastically upscaled using social media. This is a unique and competitive game that takes place between the chaser ‘IT’ and the escaper ‘WANTED’ in a popular outside public venue. Rules are simple, the IT has to catch the WANTED within a certain time frame, but with the great help of a modern and powerful tool ‘social media’. The WANTED must carry a board sign on their back that says ‘#Play Tag. Take a photo and post me on Twitter’, and the IT stands by with a mobile phone in his/her hands. Anyone nearby, including the general public, are more than welcomed to join the game. Since the setting is large, such as in amusement parks, it can seem nearly impossible for the IT to find the WANTED. Therefore, the show poses two interesting handicaps to the WANTED. The first is to encourage everyone to take photos of the WANTED and post them on Twitter. The second is to ask the WANTED to accomplish three tasks during his/her run away and before the end of the game. This enables the IT to automatically and simultaneously guess where the WANTED is hiding now by analyzing various visual information and comments gathered via SNS. The task given to the WANTED shall be something demanding and time-consuming, such as having a meal at the restaurant, take pictures with dolphins at the aquarium, go up to the observation deck and wave to the public, etc. Eventually, this shall keep the WANTED physically occupied in one place for a certain period of time which shall increase possibilities for the IT to find the WANTED.
If the WANTED can successfully accomplish all the mission and manages to escape from the IT within the time limit, the WANTED wins! On the contrary, if the IT can capture the WANTED by the assistance of many SNS postings, the IT wins.
Can the WANTED escape from the IT, and from the relentlessly curious eyes of the passersby who try to post the WANTED’s whereabouts on social media? Let’s go see!
